A different kind of optimist

Crepehanger

By expecting the absolute worst case scenario — a scenario so bleak to be virtually impossible — disappointment becomes a thing of the past. This means crepehangers really know the very worst case scenario will never happen and that makes crepehangers, in a very backwards thinking way, an optimist.

What's a Crepehanger?

A Crepehanger is someone who sets a level of expectation low to mitigate disappointment. While Crepehangers are often thought of as misanthropes, sad sacks, pessimists, or curmudgeons, we like to think the Crepehanger philosophy has practical use in everyday living. For example, if we hadn't expected Street Kings to be the worst movie ever made we wouldn't have been pleasantly surprised with how enjoyable it was. Truth be told, we probably would have hated it.
